Anna Farrell (returned gapper) says: 'this island is pretty low key, but is far cheaper than the ones off Nadi and far more beautiful. I think it works out about £10 per night.'
Leleuvia Island is a small coral island located south of Ovalau in a sea area known as Moturiki Passage. Leleuvia is the perfect place for backpackers or for anybody who wants to get away from the troubles of the world. The island is a gem, surrounded by clear waters, palm trees and two km of white beaches - that's how big the island is and you will need only 20 minutes to walk around. It’s what you imagine when you think of a South Pacific Island.
When in Fiji, make your way to Suva or Levuka and just phone the island direct on 330 1584 to arrange your transport.

City: Ovalau, Fiji
Name: Royal Hotel

Anna Farrell (returned gapper) says: 'this is the oldest hotel in Fiji; it has dorm rooms in the old colonial weatherboard buildings and is in a perfect location to see Ovalau.'
The Royal Hotel (Heritage listed) is the oldest continuously run hotel in the South Pacific. Looking more like a roadhouse straight from the pages of W. Somerset Maugham and Robert L. Stevenson, the Royal Hotel is a national and regional treasure. Owned and operated by the Ashley Family for over three generations, the Royal Hotel is your home away from home.
Built in the 1860s, by a sea captain, with coral limestone from reefs surrounding the island of Ovalau (the cement walls of the hotel are the original foundations), the Royal Hotel is the last of its kind from Fiji's turbulent past.
