Hangout Hotels is all about providing affordable, clean and safe, no-frills-just-fun accommodation in Asia.
Guest Terrence Porter writes...
'I’d never travelled overseas on my own before, so when I wanted to find a place to visit, Singapore was my choice because I’d been told that it was clean, safe and small, so it would be easy to find my way around.
I booked into hangout@mt-emily with the intention to stay six days and then find another place. But after two days at the hotel, I knew I’d rather stay my whole two weeks there. This place is affordable, clean and hip!
At first, I didn’t know what the hotel was going to be like. I had the image in my mind of people squashed together like sardines on camp beds. This was not the case at all. Everywhere is comfortable and spacious.
One of my favourite aspects of the hotel is the rooftop LookOut... standing there in the late evening just watching the river of lights as cars move up and down the street is wonderful. You see someone you haven’t met before, strike up a conversation and create a new friendship. I enjoyed talking to the staff too - everyone is friendly and can easily laugh and share stories together.
There is so much to do in Singapore, every time I turn a corner there is something new to see, do, buy or eat! Walking along the Chinatown Night Market buying something from every hawker is a great way to try a lot of food in one night!
I’ve not been bored once here in my two weeks. The hotel is close to the MRT (which, once I figured out how it works, is the best way to travel) and of course close to a lot of malls, stores and food. The other must-see tourist sights are the zoo, the night safari and Sentosa.
Every day in Singapore is a totally new adventure for me. The places I’ve seen, the people I’ve met, and the fun times I’ve shared here at Hangout are things I will always remember with a smile. I’ve already made up my mind: Singapore, I’ll be back... and I will definitely hangout@mt-emily again!'

Gapyear.com member Sarah Normanton writes...
"This place was right in the heart of Little India within walking distance of Orchard Rd etc. At S$18 a dorm bed its not dirt cheap but Singapore isn't like the rest of Asia! The dorms are spotless, the staff super helpful and you get free breakfast and internet for the price."
