Terry says: 'it’s a very good hostel, slightly off the main area of Long Street where most backpacker’s hostels are and most of the action is but it’s in a nicer and quieter area, only five minutes' walk away from ‘where it’s at’. It’s also a bit more expensive than other hostels, but you do get what you pay for. There is a good cafe/bar at the hostel, a pool, laundry service, TV room, all the usual stuff. Security is good and bad: to enter the hostel you have a pin code to be able to get in the front gate, and in the dorms there are lockers under the bunk beds. But I don't trust the hostel safe behind the reception desk as I always saw it open! Overall, it was a great place though!'
Voted the number one hostel in Africa as voted by Hostelworld customers worldwide for 2003.

Terry says (current gapper): 'I will try to not judge this hostel on the town being the most boring place I have been to so far... The people that run the place there are friendly, and there is a FREE pool table, and they have lockers under the beds.'
A well-established hostel (8+ years running) with experience regarding the formation and running of a hostel. Several discounts arranged for our guests in town. We have limited camping facilities at R30.00 per person. The Baz-Bus stops at our doorstep going both directions, once a day. The Trans-Lux Intercape and Greyhound stop at the Shell Voorbaai Service Station which is 8km. We offer a free pick-up service during official office hours.

Terry says (current gapper): 'a very good hostel I thought; run by a Dutch couple who seem to actually have a clue how to run a hostel, very friendly, dorms are clean (no lockers though). Actually the whole hostel is kept very clean and all the usual facilities are there. There’s no a pool but the beach is just a ten min walk away. They light a fire every night and you can have a braai (BBQ) on it if you wish! It’s good!'
Set up on the hill with a panoramic view over a beautiful tidal lagoon and the Indian Ocean, Albergo is in a convenient location in the centre of town. Shops, bars and restaurants are on the doorstep and even the beaches are nearby. Our peaceful garden is large enough for both an energetic game of cricket or football and lazy dreaming in swaying hammocks.

Terry says (current gapper): 'this town is in the middle of nowhere, and taking that into account, this is quite a good hostel. The people that run it are friendly; they have a chef that prepares dinner every night but it’s very expensive so you might want to bring food to cook yourself - especially if you arrive on the Baz Bus after 6pm when the only food shop in the village shuts. The dorms are kept quite clean, no lockers though. They have a laundry here but I would wait to wash til you move on as there is lots of iron in the water here and it wrecks your clothes if there is any trace of suncream on them. They encourage you to do some of the many activities here! No DTV, just a VCR so people can watch their bungy jump videos.'

Terry says (current gapper): 'this hostel is in a good location, about five mins walk from the beach. It seems like a safe area too and in PE that’s good! The hostel is basically a big bungalow: it has a pool, laundry service and all the other stuff you would want! No lockers in rooms though. Staff are friendly and always willing to help out. Decent kitchen too.'
